Out of the Dark

Today’s Shutter Sisters post is about light and dark, or more specifically, deliberately choosing shadow, darkness or obscurity to make a photographic statement rather than the traditional front lighted photo.

I’ve already posted lots of examples of light play on this blog here and here and here.  Today’s picture is another example from when I was just starting to think about composition.  Obviously, this shot would have been better had I been further back and not cut the front and back of the horse clean off.  But I still love Emily’s silhouette – her straight back, relaxed hands, and focus on the horse.
